Tips for Successful Parenting

Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to finalize plans for the break.  Will he choose to be a camp counselor, take a summer internship, or come home to work &/or take classes at the local college?  These are all decisions that you’re encouraged to be a part of, but are ultimately your student’s to own.

Encourage your student to focus on the academic “light at the end of the tunnel,” avoiding language that makes his success about your agenda, your happiness or your pride.  Encourage him to get academic help if he is struggling – asking for help is sign of maturity and self-awareness..
